Toronto F2F June 2019

  • Host: Mozilla
  • Location: Mozilla Toronto, 366 Adelaide Street West, Suite 500 (5th floor), Toronto, ON M5V 1R9, Canada
  • Dates:
  • Food: Lunch will be provided all 4 days (could start at or after 11:45 Tues-Thurs, 12:00 on Friday)
  • Group Dinner: 7pm on Wednesday June 5, at Pizzeria via Mercanti (menu, map), 188 Augusta Ave, Toronto, ON M5T 1M1, Canada. We'll be seated on the lower (basement) level, since that's where they can accommodate a large group.

Travel

Immigration:

  • Travelers from countries with visa-free entry to Canada who are not citizens of Canada or the USA will need to apply for an eTA. For more information on visas and eTAs, see the government's website.
  • If you're departing Canada to the US through Pearson Airport (but not Billy Bishop Airport), you will go through US immigration and customs in Toronto. Make sure to leave enough time for this!

Airports:

  • Most travelers will want to fly to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), which is the largest and busiest airport in Canada. Pearson airport is connected by the Union Pearson Express train to Union Station downtown, which is about a 20 minute walk from Mozilla's office; the train costs C$12.35 cash or C$9.25 on a Presto card (which you can buy for C$6 from the ticket machines (at least the ones on the left side), and which is also usable for other Toronto transit). A taxi/uber to/from the airport to the Mozilla office will probably be about 25 minutes to 1 hour depending on traffic.
  • However, if you're coming from certain cities in Eastern Canada or the Northeast US, you may want to consider flying to Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ), which is near the city centre. It's about a 30 minute walk to Mozilla; probably faster in a cab or Uber, although not by much at morning rush hour. Or you could do half the distance walking and half on either the Spadina or Bathurst streetcar.

Hotels: There are a quite a few hotels within a short walk of the office, and there is also often substantial availability of apartments on AirBNB.
